Brent recorded his first album at the age of 15 and by his early twenties released a solo album entitled Scraping the Sky that soon attracted interest from musicians and media in Dallas, Texas. He spent four years playing guitar and singing with the Dallas based festival band HotHouse! and three original bands: Fijit, Big Picture and Zen YoYos (Global Village Records.)
Since moving to Portland, Brent has become an active board member of the Portland Songwriters Association where he coordinates the First Monday Showcase, works regularly as a local session player and vocalist, and is the creator of the PdxNewMusic Showcase. The showcase is a venue for the promotion of Portland artists and has featured such performers as Hank Plank and the 2x4's, Stephanie Schneiderman (winner or the 1999 Lilith Fair competition) and SHED,Inc. as well as Brent's latest band, Menerva.
As a producer, he has attracted the attention of NXNW and participates as a panelist and mentor at the multi-media conferences held in Portland each year.
Future plans for Brent include the release of another in a series of PdxNewMusic.com compilations featuring new acts from the Portland music scene, production and promotion of bigger live shows, continued collaboration on projects with other musicians, and regional touring with Menerva.
